At the Moorland Federation, we believe in the power of transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement. The work that Ofsted does is crucial in guiding us to ensure we provide the best possible education and care for our students.
Ofsted, or the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills, is a non-ministerial department of the UK government. Tasked with the responsibility of inspecting and regulating services that care for children and young people, as well as services providing education and skills for learners of all ages, Ofsted plays an invaluable role in maintaining and enhancing the standard of education and children's services.
Ofsted aims to improve lives by raising standards in education and children’s social care. They inspect and regulate thousands of organisations and individuals providing education, training, and care – from childminders to training providers, schools to local authorities – and they share what they find. This process allows us to better understand our strengths and areas for improvement, and helps us ensure our students receive the best possible education.
Ofsted's Guiding Principle
Ofsted operates on the guiding principle: "We are a force for improvement through the intelligent, responsible, and focused use of inspection, regulation, and insights." It is a sentiment that we wholeheartedly embrace at the Moorland Federation. Ofsted's inspections and feedback provide us with the insight we need to continually improve our teaching methods, student care, and overall school environment.

Timberscombe Ofsted Report - May 2023
Pupils are confident and self-assured because they know that they are valued members of the community.
The curriculum is ambitious and broad. In some subjects it exceeds the national curriculum. For example, pupils in key stage 1 can hold basic conversations in Spanish.
We continuously strive to align ourselves with Ofsted’s guiding principle, using the insights from Ofsted's inspections and regulations to make responsible and focused improvements in our services. We believe that this commitment to continual enhancement is crucial to provide our students with the opportunities and care they deserve.
