The importance of mental health and wellbeing for both our students and staff plays a large role within the Moorland Federation Schools. Our commitment to providing a supportive environment ensures that everyone in our school community can thrive and reach their full potential.
To promote good mental health and wellbeing, we offer child and staff mindfulness sessions, which help participants develop self-awareness, emotional regulation, and stress management techniques. Our comprehensive wellbeing and mental health strategies further support our commitment to fostering a positive and nurturing atmosphere.
We understand the importance of quickly identifying students who need support with their mental health. Our schools work effectively with local children and young people's mental health services, including Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs), where they are established. This collaboration ensures that our students receive the appropriate care and resources to manage their mental health and wellbeing.
Many of our staff are Mental health first aid trained, which is provided to our staff via the Mental Health Charter and other Mental Health Training services, equipping them with the necessary skills to identify and support individuals experiencing mental health challenges. Our focus on wellbeing extends to the SEARCH acronym: strengths, emotional management, attention and awareness, relationships, coping, and habits and goals. By incorporating these elements into our everyday practices, we create a well-rounded approach to mental health and wellbeing.
We are committed to ensuring our students receive the support they need through adequate funding and resources. This commitment also extends to staff retention, as we invest in their personal and professional growth, encouraging collaboration and fostering a supportive team ethic across all Moorland Federation schools.
Our team of staff understand the value of working together to create a positive environment for all members of the Moorland Federation community. By sharing knowledge, resources, and best practices, our schools can offer comprehensive mental health and wellbeing support to both students and staff.
Mental health and wellbeing are integral to the success and happiness of our students and staff. By prioritising support, fostering a nurturing environment, and working collaboratively, we aim to create a community where everyone can flourish and achieve their goals.
