Bringing our schools and communities together to give back to a service that saves lives across our rural region.

Moorland Federation Heads of School to Cycle Between All Eight Schools in One Day for the Air Ambulance

Three Heads of School from the Moorland Federation are preparing to take on a remarkable challenge - cycling between all eight of the Federation’s schools in a single day to raise money for the Air Ambulance Service, which provides an essential lifeline to the rural communities of West Somerset and Exmoor.

Taking part in this fantastic challenge are Mr James (Head of Dunster First School),Mr Jon Moise-Souch (Head of Langford Budville Primary School), and Mrs Lucy Walker-Blair (Head of St Dubricius First School, in Porlock) who will be joining them for part of the journey.

Together, they will cover miles of winding Exmoor lanes and hill climbs, visiting each of the Federation’s schools, starting from St Dubricius in Porlock, to Dunster, Timberscombe, Cutcombe, Exford, Dulverton Junior & All Saints Schools, finishing at Langford Budville. They will be loudly cheered on by pupils and staff along the way.

“The Air Ambulance team carry out incredible work across West Somerset”
“For many of our families, their service is not only vital but life-saving. Living and working in such a rural area means response times and access can be challenging  but the Air Ambulance is always there when we need them most.”

Mr James, Head of School at Dunster First School

The Moorland Federation, made up of eight small rural first and primary schools across Exmoor, has always placed community at the heart of its ethos. This event will bring together pupils, staff and families from across the Federation, as well as our wider communities in a shared effort to give back and celebrate teamwork.

“We wanted to do something that both raises funds and awareness”
“Our children are so excited to be part of this, from designing posters and banners to holding mini fundraisers in each school.”

Mr Moise-Souch, Head of School at Langford Budville Primary School

The Air Ambulance provides an essential emergency response across Somerset, often being the first to reach remote and hard-to-access locations. Its work depends entirely on public donations, and the Federation hopes their challenge will highlight the importance of supporting such a critical service.

A GoFundMe page will soon be available for those wishing to sponsor the Heads’ efforts. Every contribution, no matter how small, will be gratefully received and will go directly to the Air Ambulance.

“This challenge is a wonderful reflection of what our Federation stands for; teamwork, community and courage”
“It’s a chance for us to come together to make a difference and say thank you to a service we value greatly.”

Mrs Pravato, Chief Operations Officer for the Moorland Federation

The ride will take place on the 2nd December, with updates, photos and videos shared across the Moorland Federation’s social media channels.
