Pupils from across the Moorland Federation came together to celebrate curiosity, creativity and scientific discovery at the Moorland Federation Science Fair 2026. The annual event showcased a wide range of imaginative projects and experiments from children across the Federation’s schools, highlighting their enthusiasm for science and innovation.

Teachers, families and community partners were impressed by the high number and quality of entries this year. Displays ranged from creative investigations to hands-on experiments, demonstrating the children’s ability to question, explore and apply scientific thinking.

Alongside the exhibition of projects, pupils also enjoyed an exciting “Detective Science – Whodunnit?” workshop delivered by Fizz Pop Science. During the session, children used real scientific techniques including fingerprint analysis, chromatography and chemical testing to investigate clues and solve a mystery. The interactive workshop brought forensic science to life and proved a highlight of the day, with pupils eagerly working together to track down the culprit.

The event also featured a judging panel made up of representatives from local organisations Ada in Porlock and Singer Instruments in Roadwater, who had the challenging task of selecting winners from the many impressive entries. Their continued support for this annual event never fails to inspire the children and spark enthusiasm for new ideas and projects.

Ada in Porlock also delivered the launch assemblies across our schools and generously funded the science workshop, helping to bring the event to life for pupils.

“The Science Fair is always a wonderful opportunity for our pupils to explore their curiosity and showcase their creativity. We are incredibly proud of all the children who took part and grateful to our community partners who helped make the event possible. Experiences like this inspire children to think critically, ask questions and develop a lifelong interest in science.”
