Mrs Helen Hickman

Helen Hickman is our dynamic Federation Business Manager and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead. Hailing from Yorkshire, Helen embarked on her West Somerset journey in 2011, coinciding with her daughter’s academic journey in our very own Dunster First School. She brings a unique blend of administrative expertise and a deep understanding of educational environments to our team.

Helen has been instrumental in various roles throughout her career. As an Admin Manager at a residential college for young adults with autism, she honed her administrative skills and developed a profound understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in the educational sector. This experience was further enriched by her time as a Learning Support Assistant at West Somerset College, further deepening her empathy and understanding of student needs.

In 2014, Helen joined us at Dunster First School in an administrative capacity. Her commitment to the role, combined with her professional approach and friendly demeanour, quickly saw her ascend to the position of Federation Business Manager. Helen's journey from being a part of the Dunster team to now serving our wider federation is a testament to her dedication and resilience.

Possessing a knack for problem-solving, Helen has demonstrated exceptional technical prowess in developing financial solutions and innovative processes. This skill set has been pivotal in creating a streamlined approach to school budgeting and financial management across the federation.
