Mrs Carys Barnett

Carys Barnett is a luminary in the education field with an innate ability to guide, inspire, and foster growth in both students and educators alike. Born in Cheshire and having lived in North Yorkshire and Wales, Carys brings a wealth of diverse experiences and a rich cultural understanding to her role.

Carys completed her BA(Hons) in Education Studies at Plymouth University before furthering her qualifications with a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (P.G.C.E) through Somerset SCITT. Continually dedicated to personal growth and excellence, she further honed her leadership skills by acquiring her National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) through Leading Schools South West.

Boasting 18 years of dedicated service in the teaching profession, Carys has the unique perspective of having taught every year group from Nursery to Year 6. She has also been in school leadership for over six years, during which she held the position of Headteacher in Somerset and Dorset, served as a Trust EYFS Lead, and was a Senior Education Advisor in North Yorkshire.

Carys has a notable track record of supporting the Somerset Literacy Advisory Team with Guided Writing processes within KS2, in addition to moderating for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Her expertise and experience in school leadership, both in Trusts and maintained schools, have cemented her as a key figure in the field.

Carys brings her formidable energy back to the Moorland Federation, carrying with her the deep-seated belief in fostering a love for learning among students and creating supportive, thriving environments for educators.
