Our Vision: Let Your Light Shine

Welcome to our page where we celebrate our school's vision, values, and ethos. We're delighted to share with you the guiding principles that enable us to create a nurturing and vibrant learning environment for all our children.

At Exford First School, we firmly believe in the holistic development of every child. We strive to foster an environment where our students are encouraged to let their light shine brightly. Our vision is to instill a sense of self-confidence, self-discipline, independence, and motivation in every student. Through affirmation and praise, we aim to boost their self-esteem, aiding their development in becoming well-rounded individuals.

Our Core Values

Our core values revolve around creating a safe, caring, and cooperative environment. Here are some of the key principles we abide by:

  • Creating an atmosphere where each child feels happy, secure, and valued.
  • Encouraging the children to take responsibility for their actions, promoting independence.
  • Providing an environment where children develop collaborative skills, sensitivity towards others, and the confidence to form relationships.
  • Instilling a joy of learning and nurturing lively, enquiring minds.
  • Delivering high-quality education within the context of Christian belief, thereby aiding the spiritual, moral, cultural, and social development of our students.

Our Teaching Approach and Code of Conduct

Our curriculum is designed to cater to individual needs by adopting differentiated teaching and learning styles. This way, we ensure that every child can achieve their full potential.

From the Early Years Foundation Stage through to the higher grades, we focus on building co-operation and teamwork. We help our children to understand their emotions, guide them in identifying their feelings, and encourage them to express these feelings constructively.

Each class at Exford establishes its own class code of conduct, promoting self-awareness, responsibility, and independent behaviour management.

Building Strong Home-School Links

We believe that the family is a cornerstone of every child's development. Therefore, we maintain an 'open door' policy for parents, fostering a partnership that extends learning beyond the classroom. By encouraging strong home-school links, we aim to create a supportive community that enables the child to flourish.

Our Outreach: Engaging with the Local Community

At Exford First School, we take pride in actively engaging with our local community and supporting various charities throughout the academic year. Notable efforts include our collaboration with Send a Cow and Christian Aid.

We fondly remember our Cow Gallery, a collaborative project that successfully raised enough funds to provide a family in Africa with a cow. The enthusiastic participation of our students, parents, and staff in creating a variety of artistic cows was a heartwarming sight to behold.

Together, we strive to continue making a difference in our community and beyond.
